Bazooka Joe and WWII

August 6th, 2008

Vintage candy. Bazooka Bubble Gum. World War II. What do they have in common?

Of course, you know that the Bubble Gum is vintage gum. But, did you know….

Everything seems to revolve around WWII. Bazooka Bubble Gum is no different. Did you realize that the name, the packaging was no accident? No kidding! Of course, you recognize the color of the packaging: red, white, and blue. Bazooka Bubble Gum came into being shortly after the war.

Do you know where the name came from? After a little research, I found that the name of the gum was not named after the armor piercing weapon used in WWII, but was named after Bob Burns, the entertainer. You see, he developed a musical weapon from two gas pipes and a funnel in the 1930s and called it the Bazooka. I wonder IF the name of the armor was, in fact named from the same? Some claim that it was.

Come and check out our varieties of gum and candy. Yes, they are all vintage. We even have more trivia on our website.

Thinking corporate food gifts? Think outside the box!

April 5th, 2008

Just for a few moments, think outside of the box with me.

What do you think of as a corporate food gift? Think again. This time out of the box…think retro-candy! That’s right. Think of 50’s, 60’s or 70’s style retro-candy. One of my favorites? Bazooka Bubble Gum.

Now, just for a few moments, think ABOUT the outside the box with me. Think of old time favorites such as Superman, Batman, Coca-Cola, Betty Boop. Yup, the outside of our retro-lunch boxes and pails are decorated with the classic likes of these (and others).

If you think out of the box, think of us for your corporate food gift.

All you ever wanted to know about Bazooka Bubble Gum

March 15th, 2008

When I think of bubble gum, I think of one… Bazooka Bubble Gum. Talk about nostalgic candy! Don’t you remember wanting bubble gum just because of Bazooka Joe? I did.

Everything seems to revolve around WWII. Did you realize that the name, the packaging was no accident? No kidding! Of course, you recognize the color of the packaging: red, white, and blue. Bazooka Bubble Gum came into being shortly after the war. We also got GREAT nostalgic candy from that era!

What about Bazooka Joe? He didn’t grace the gum until 1953, and has starred in some 700 comics since! I understand that he is not ready to retire, but will continue on with his antics for the next decade.

Bazooka has gone on to include 5 or 6 different flavors of gum. They also have changed the color of their packaging. This candy can be found in it’s original packaging, along with 48 other types of great candies. It’s just a click away!
